RHEL version with latest GDAL

Latest response

Hi,

We are using Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.4 (Maipo).
As part of EPEL repo, we are getting gdal-1.11.4-3.el7.x86_64.rpm
There are many latest versions of gdal are available as per their website(https://gdal.org/download.html)
Please let us know in which RHEL release latest GDAL has been included? Also share your plan if it is not already considered..

Thanks & Regards,
Usha N.

Hi Usha,

GDAL is not available from the official Red Hat repositories ... the latest version from EPEL is 1.11.4 for RHEL 7 and the latest
version available for RHEL 8 is 3.0.4 - alternatively you can install GDAL manually, in case you want the latest version 3.1.2. :)

Regards,
Christian

It appears that the latest version of GDAL will be included in the upcoming Fedora 33 release: gdal-3.1.2-5.fc33

The existing Fedora 33 RPM suggests that an EPEL build for RHEL 8 will soon follow.
