Latest response

Goodmorning,

Someone can tell me please if it's possible install httpd server for this system that I've installed on Oracle VM VirtualBox. If the answer is possible then what version should I download from RedHat's website and is'it free download version?

My Redhat version installed:
LinuxRedHat64 3.10.0-957.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Oct 4 20:48:51 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Thanks so much for your attention.

Hi Phong,

If you have a valid subscription (which I assume you have), you can of course install a httpd server on your system. :)

sudo yum update
sudo yum install httpd

sudo systemctl enable httpd.service
sudo systemctl start httpd.service

Hi Phong,

Forgot to mention that you are using an outdated version of RHEL 7 ... please upgrade to the latest edition 7.8 ! :)
2.4.6-93.el7 is the latest httpd version for RHEL 7.8 - which is available from the rhel-7-server-rpms repositories.

Hi Christian

Could you please guide me on how to upgrade to the latest edition 7.8 ? I have in mind to download 'Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.8 Boot ISO version' and run it as rpm (with -iv option) comand with super user 'root' .

Is'it a correct approach?

Thanks Phong

No Phong,

That won't work - just run sudo yum upgrade, and it should bring you to RHEL 7.8.
But you may have to expect some issues though, you are too many versions behind.
I recommend to perform a clean (fresh) install by using the RHEL 7.8 DVD.iso file. :)

Hi Christian,

What site can I find out the version you mentioned about (RHEL 7.8 DVD.iso file). On the site https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/69/ver=/rhel---7/7.8/x86_64/product-software I only found the version 'Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.8 Binary DVD'. Is it the same?

Best Regards Phong

Yes Phong,

RHEL 7.8 Binary DVD (rhel-server-7.8-x86_64-dvd.iso) is the correct installation medium to download and use. :)

Christian
