Internal Repo - Issues populating 7.5 EUS Patches

Latest response

I have an internal repo running redhat 7.8.
Attached to it is some downstream systems that dont have connectivity to the internet. (hence the need for the internal repo).

Some of these systems are running Redhat 7.5 and I am attempting to patch these. However I only wish to patch the 7.5 patches as the applications have some dependencies on 7.5.

My internal repo doesnt appear to be populating the eus 7.5 patches.

From the repo I can see the following when I run
yum list --showduplicates kernel

kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-693.55.1.el7 rhel-7-server-eus-rpms
kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-693.58.1.el7 rhel-7-server-eus-rpms
kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-862.el7 rhel-7-server-rpms
kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-862.2.3.el7 rhel-7-server-rpms
kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-862.3.2.el7 rhel-7-server-rpms
kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-862.3.3.el7 rhel-7-server-rpms
kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-862.6.3.el7 rhel-7-server-rpms
kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-862.9.1.el7 rhel-7-server-rpms
kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-862.11.6.el7 rhel-7-server-rpms
kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-862.14.4.el7 rhel-7-server-rpms
kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-957.el7 rhel-7-server-rpms
kernel.x86_64 3.10.0-957.1.3.el7 rhel-7-server-rpms

it appears to query - but only for 7.4. I know one of the eus kernel patches is 3.10.0-862-51.1 which I am attempting to get.

Would appreciate any help/input to solve the issue.
Thanks

Hi Chi,

Is the repo server attached to the RHEL 7.5 EUS repos?

if not the EUS kernels are no showing up.

Hi Jan,

Thankyou so much for you response. Its very much appreciated. Is there a specific 7.5 repo? I am attached from what i can see to the following

rhel-7-server-eus-rpms/7Server/x86_64 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Server - Extended Update Support (RPMs)

In my Satellite GUI it shows a specific 7.5 repo.

I cannot find the name, I hope someone is able to name it.

It might be specific to the Satellite install. Certainly I cannot see it available for me. Hoping someone can shed some light on it.

Hi Chi,

Will build a test VM and subscribe it after the build to CDN, will see if I can share some more light on the issue, tomorrow.

Jan Gerrit

Many Thanks Jan, Any help would definitely be appreciated

Hi Chi,

Sorry for the delay. The installation has just started, hope to inform you this weekend.

OK thats awesome. Still trying at this side. Was hoping that something might change when 7.5 slipped over the 30th April when it reached its official EOL. But still having the same issue.

Hi Chi,

It looks like a Satellite is able to put minor release related filters on the repo, the name is the same as you memtioned.

So I do not know what you should do to stick to 7.5 EUS.

HI Jan, Did you see any 7.5 EUS patches available on your CDN VM? I think part of the problem is that I am not seeing anything above 7.4 available to patch. Considering there is quite a few 7.5 available I would of thought they would be along with 7.6 patches available in the eus main patch repo

Hi Chan,

I only checked the repo name. I changed to RHEL 8.2 or RHEL 7.8 for all VMs.

Will need to check the repo content tomorrow.

Jan Gerrit

Hi Jan, I was doing a yum list --showduplicates kernel in order to see what kernel patches I had available. As in the initial post I didnt appear to have any kernel patches post 7.4 populated from the EUS repos. So I was getting EUS. Is something blocking anything post those patches. I have cleaned out and repopulated. No luck.

Hi Chi,

kernel-3.10.0-957.43.1.el7.x86_64

kernel-3.10.0-957.46.1.el7.x86_64

kernel-3.10.0-957.48.1.el7.x86_64

these are the latest I see in the repo.

I do no know what is blocking your reposync, for I do not use it. In general I have the luxury to be able to upgrade to the latest minor release when ever I want.

Jan Gerrit

Hi Jan,

I am getting those OK. Just nothing in the EUS repo for kernel updates post 7.4.

Thanks again for all your help.

Hi Chi,

I found those in the EUS channel, not only in the regular channel.

I advise you to contact Red Hat support, for something seems to go wrong with the package download or the createrepo step in your mirror attempt.
