Doing a root clone of a RHEL 5 FS

Latest response

Hello,

I have some production systems that I would like to take clones of the OS in case of DR and be able to a full restore from them. I was wondering what is the best practices for a full metal restore of a RHEL 5 root file system.

Thanks.

Need some more background info:
* Physical or virtual RHEL hosts?
* What backup frameworks do you have in place?
* What replication frameworks do you have in place?
* What type of storage are your RHEL hosts sitting on (e.g., are they hosted off of a SAN or NAS or all local disk)?

Probably a few more questions that aren't occurring to me now

Sorry I should of been more precise.

I have phyiscals with SAN attached. The root file systems are sitting on phyyiscal drives. I do have a satellite server in the environment. With my solaris servers I am able to do zfs sends of the root fs and then able to do a restore from that. I am looking for something similiar with RHEL.
