Custom Grafana Dashboards

So it seems that as per https://access.redhat.com/solutions/4543031 the built in Grafana instance is read only :( The proposed solution is to create an instance in the cluster. I Don't want to do this as I would prefer to use my external grafana instance that my test team have. Is it possible to target an external Grafana instance at this prometheus instance running in the monitoring stack?
