Custom Grafana Dashboards

Latest response

So it seems that as per https://access.redhat.com/solutions/4543031 the built in Grafana instance is read only :( The proposed solution is to create an instance in the cluster. I Don't want to do this as I would prefer to use my external grafana instance that my test team have. Is it possible to target an external Grafana instance at this prometheus instance running in the monitoring stack?

Hi Darragh,

yes it is! I've also deployed my own custom grafana cluster with a second prometheus cluster especially for custom application metrics and KPIs, which shouldn't be scraped by OpenShift's buildIn k8s-prometheus deployment from openshift-monitoring namespace. So for example you can integrate with k8s-prometheus by making use of prometheus federation feature [1] and add it to the configMap.
