Share data on external storage device

Can Red Hat share files and directories, located on an external device, to Linux and Windows users via Samba?
Experience is launched on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6, all permissions set to 777, and SELinux in permissive mode.
External device can be a SAN, or a NAS, the actual folder seems out of reach.
The share should hold the path to the real folder.
Or access is denied, or if it is allowed, the shared folder is the share name folder on server local drive.
I have searched through available literature and found nothing related to this specific topic.
