osa-dispatcher not starting

Latest response

Doing a rhn-satellite restart and osa fails starting with this:

Starting osa-dispatcher: Spacewalk 3385 2019/03/08 10:00:18 -05:00: ('Traceback caught:',)
Spacewalk 3385 2019/03/08 10:00:18 -05:00: ('Traceback (most recent call last):\n File "/usr/share/rhn/osad/jabber_lib.py", line 656, in connect\n ssl.do_handshake()\nError: [(\'SSL routines\', \'SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE\', \'certificate verify failed\')]\n',)

satellite 5.8
rhel 6.10

What cert is this referencing?

Hi Jon,

This error can appear when host name does not match FQDN in DNS, or incorrect FQDN is defined as the name of the Organization Unit in Satellite install.

Has your Satellite hostname or IP changed?

Well, I didn't change it. This was an update from 5.6 to 5.8, so no hostname or ip changes, none that I did especially no ip changes. I don't think the update changed it. hostname cli shows the proper name.

Hi Jon,

It was long ago and I cannot remember what was the real cause, but here were some brief notes what I did in 2015 to fix identical problem in one company.

I am not sure exactly what I did, but somewhere in these steps the problem was resolved and I purposefully kept that information in my huge database of knowledge briefs:

grep ServerName /etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf
ls -als /etc/pki/spacewalk/jabberd/server.pem
md5sum /var/www/html/pub/RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT
grep CN= $(grep spacewalk.crt /etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf | cut -f 2 -d' ') | grep Subject
grep require-starttls /etc/jabberd/c2s.xml | grep pemfile
grep $(hostname) /etc/jabberd/*xml
grep CN= /etc/pki/spacewalk/jabberd/server.pem | grep Subject
grep HOST /etc/sysconfig/network
rhn-satellite restart
