SSL received a record with an incorrect Message Authentication Code

Latest response

I just installed Rhel 7 at home

I keep getting this error
curl: (56) SSL received a record with an incorrect Message Authentication Code.

Is there a fix for this

 SSL_ERROR_BAD_MAC_READ SSL_ERROR_BAD_MAC_READ

Hi Chinedu,

This is most probably not related to RHEL, but rather has something to do with your internet connection or your firefox profile.
As a workaround you can remove your profile and create a new profile : rm -r /home/<your-user-name>/.mozilla/* ... :)

This is a dual boot workstation. When I boot into windows 10, everything works fine. I only have this problem when I boot into RHEL on same workstation..

The internet connection is fine, I think...

Someone please help with this...

Could you check if the network is actually working, for example by running

curl https://access.redhat.com/

which should give you a raw html page. If it is just firefox then you might do better searching on the mozilla site where I found https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/982298 which may or may not be helpful.

Hi,

Apart from standard checks with your Firefox setup (and the proxy if you use it), could you please disable IPv6 in Firefox:

In the address bar, type about:config and press Enter.

In the Search field, enter network.dns.disableIPv6 or something similar.

In the list of preferences, double-click network.dns.disableIPv6 to set its value to true.
