LOGIN_TIMEOUT in Redhat Desktop login screen

Posted on

Hello all. I am currently trying to figure out if it is possible to have the same login timeout functionality in the Desktop login screen as in the tty.

In the tty I can insert my username in the login prompt. I am being requested a password ! If i do not enter a password the prompt returns to the login prompt after 60 seconds, this is defined in the /etc/login.defs file. And this I like :-)

I am looking for the same behavior in the Desktop environment. When I insert my username, a password textfield appears. This screen does not timeout so it keep awaiting a password input until the screensaver locks the screen which is of course configurable but it is not the desired configuration.

Is there a configuration for the Login screen in the Desktop environment that makes it possible to timeout the password input within 60 sec if no password is entered ?

Best Regards
Sten
