How to get gnome to snap windows to quarter screens by moving the windows into the corner

Latest response

I used to use shellTile to snap windows in corners to quarter screens in gnome, but in rhel 7.6 the functionality seems broken (it cant snap to the top left and right corners for me)

  • I'm wondering if anyone else here uses something else to achieve this functionality.

I've also tried gTile, but that didn't work for me.

Thanks for any ideas!

I've used wmctrl to do this sort of tiling in the past.

Another popular choice is devilspie.

I used openbox window manager for many years which has this built in.

These days I use MATE Desktop which also does it natively in the window manager, I'm most interested in tiling to the left/right side of the screen.

Thanks, I'll check them out! I wish quarters was standard in gnome and kde. as soon as screens get big (>30") its super handy.
