High Availability Add-On Question

Latest response

Hello --

We have Red Hat Enterprise 7.4 running on one of our systems, and we are going through the process of deploying a twin system at our redundant facility. To that end we are planning on using the High Availability Add-On to create a cluster of the two system , and utilize Pacemaker.

The question that I have is the following: Is the High Availability Add-On a separate product that needs to be purchased, or is it already included with our subscription?

Thanks.

Hi Andrew,

You can easily check whether the High Availability Add-On is included in your subscription, just go to ->
Subscription Utilization : https://access.redhat.com/management/products - click on your subscription.
If it's not listed in the "Overview" tab under "Products Provided" there, contact Red Hat Sales Support. :)

Christian

Hello Christian --

Thank-you for your reply. I followed your instructions, and according to our subscription we have the following product listed:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux High Availability (for RHEL Server) - Extended Update Support

We should be all set.

You're welcome, Andrew ! :)

That is nice. Some additional info that may be of some help to you..

This HA Add-On comes bundled along with Server subscription, however, the repositories normally doesn't get enabled by default. You may run the command "subscription-manager list --available" to find out list of products available which should list out "Resilient Storage" & "High Availability". You may run the command "subscription-manager repos --list-enabed" to see if this shows these two repos, if these repos are not enabled then you could enable them by running as shown:

[root@ansiblehost ~]# subscription-manager repos --enable rhel-ha-for-rhel-7-server-rpms \
> --enable rhel-rs-for-rhel-7-server-rpms
Repository 'rhel-ha-for-rhel-7-server-rpms' is enabled for this system.
Repository 'rhel-rs-for-rhel-7-server-rpms' is enabled for this system.

List out enabled repositories:

[root@ansiblehost ~]# subscription-manager repos --list-enabled

Hi Sadashiva,

Thanks for adding the additional information about how to activate the repository. Normally I use the command line too, but in this case - when someone wants to know which products are included in their subscriptions - I thought it might be more appropriate to point to the graphical summary being provided in the Subscription portal interface. :)

Christian
