8k block sizes not supported in x86 and x86_64
Hello folks,
Section 2.3 of the Satellite Installation Manual recommends using 8k block sizes for the database partition. However, x86 and x86_64 architectures (which I suspect is the majority of the userbase) only support a max of 4k blocks. Can you either provide instructions on how to get 8k blocks working properly for x86 and x86_64 architectures, or just remove the instruction altogether?

Hi John,
This Red Hat solution https://access.redhat.com/solutions/1614393 might provide some background.
I have many Red Hat Satellites that I have built, and I have yet to make 8k blocks on the database partitions. My Red Hat satellites are working fine.
However, you can fairly hit Red Hat support with this question if it is really gnawing at you and their engineers should produce an answer, particularly since you found it in the documentation. I've hit Red Hat with some documentation things with cases when I felt it worthwhile, and when I properly documented/explained the importance, they listened.
Welcome! Check out the Getting Started with Red Hat page for quick tours and guides for common tasks.
