Notepad++ is a Windows text editor, it is not available on Linux.

For similar equivalents provided in the RHEL channels, look into gedit. The EPEL repository contains Geany which is can be made simple like Notepad or very full-featured like an IDE. There are many many text editors available on Linux outside of these repositories.

People usually use Windows editors like Notepad++ and EditPadLite to make sure line endings are saved in the correct UNIX/Windows/Mac format. This can be done in the Save As dialog within gedit. It can also be done with any existing file using the dos2unix tool on the commandline.

If your DBA insists on using Notepad++ and nothing else, it apparently can be run under the Wine compatibility layer, but this is not something Red Hat provide packages for. See: https://wiki.winehq.org/CentOS/RHEL

Thank for the response, we are going with gedit.
