How to upgrade certificate on RHEVM application

Latest response

Hello,
I'm managing a RHEVM 4.0 server. We need to upgrade the web app certificate from the default PKCS #1 SHA-1 with RSA Encryption to SHA-256.
Self signed certs are ok.
I believe there's a way to do that from a command line on the RHEVM server.
What are the steps to do that?
Thanks,
Paul

Adding follow up comments to add some clarification to the original question ....

I need to upgrade the RHEV manager admin console web app certificate to SHA-256 encryption with a 2048 bit key. We aren't buying a commercial certificate; a self signed certificate will suffice for this particular situation.

I'm trying to be very cautious not to make any changes that will interfere with communication between the RHEVM and any of the hosts or virtual machines that this server is managing. I think the certificate for that communication is different than the certificate for logging into the web app admin console, but don't know for sure.

So, specifically, what I want to do is generate a self signed certificate, with the above requirements, and then install that as the certificate for the admin console web page, and not touch anything to do with the communication between the manager, the hosts, or the virtual machines.

What would the steps be for that?

Hi Paul,

There's a procedure for updating the certificate to SHA-256 here: Replacing SHA-1 Certificates with SHA-256 Certificates

I hope this helps. If anything is unclear, feel free to let me know, and I can work on improving it.
