HI,

as root or using sudo:

  1. Mount the VirtualBox Guest Additions ISO: mount /dev/cdrom /mnt
  2. Run the installer: sh /mnt/VBoxLinuxAdditions.run
  3. Umount the ISO: umount /mnt
  4. Restart the guest...

thanks so much it worked.. I just had to also "yum install gcc kernel-devel bzip2"

This article is short and consise: https://blogs.oracle.com/joshis/virtualbox-guest-additions-iso-download I had to do what Johnathan suggested and install the kernel devel packages, and then re-install the guest tools before mouse integration worked

hey, I am using redhat linux 7.5. I want to transfer local files into my Virtual box machine.I tried installing Guest Additions,but getting the follwoing error: Unable to insert the virtual optical disk C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VBoxGuestAdditions.iso into the machine redhat-7.5. Could not mount the media/drive 'C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VBoxGuestAdditions.iso' (VERR_PDM_MEDIA_LOCKED). Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Component: ConsoleWrap Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed} Callee: IMachine {85cd948e-a71f-4289-281e-0ca7ad48cd89}

I would be really thank full if anyone could help me to resolve this.

In the host Virtual box, click your vmguest, settings, storage DVD or CD , in Attributes choose the Optical disk file (e.g. C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VBoxGuestAdditions.iso) . this will insert your iso file in dvd drive where you can mount it (mine is mounted as sr0) , you can use lsblk to see what is the mount pt of your dvd.

Thank you, this got me up and running perfectly

This thread solved my problem. However, first I used the command "yum install gcc kernel-devel bzip2" and then the commands given by Zdenek Sedlak .
