How to get desktop or workstation apps in application installer

Latest response

Hi, I am currently running Red Hat Linux 7.3 server edition, and I would like to know, if there is a way to get desktop, or workstation, apps in application installer? Thanks, and have a great day! :)

Hi,

RHEL 7 includes many desktop applications by default. Are you looking for anything specific?

Hi, thanks for your reply. I am looking to install Libreoffice, GIMP, and VLC. I can't find them in the application installer.

Thanks, for your help!

You should have access to LibreOffice and GIMP as long as your system is registered and subscribed. Please follow the instructions from https://access.redhat.com/solutions/253273 if you haven't registered and subscribed your system yet.

VLC is another story, though. Please see this thread: https://access.redhat.com/discussions/1437813.

Yes, I noticed that "Libreoffice" is found in "optional-rpm" repos.

Good point. GIMP is in the base repo, though.
