/etc/security/limits.d/90-nproc.conf update

Latest response

Hello,

I recently made and update to the nproc settings for one of my webservers. I am unable to restart apache services at this time. However, child processes come and go on demand.

The parent process is running at the root user. However child processes at started by the parent as the www user.

My question is, will the child processes inherent the new ulimit setting without restarting the main apache process owned by the root user?

Thanks in advance

You can check the ulimit values for any given running process by looking at the /proc//limits file. So you can check the results of your change and find out if you need to restart apache by looking at the limits of any of the recently-started child processes.
