Before one can answer your question, one would need to know what your point of reference is. The yum-cron functionality has been around for a while now (I've used it since, probably, 2014 under EL6). Are you asking how does yum-cron from EL 7.2 compare to the version in 7.0, 7.1, or 6.x? In any case, which particular comparative features are you asking after?

In general, I've found the 7.x version to be at least as reliable as it was in 6.x, it's just got greater (and more useful) configurability.

Hi i try to install yum cron with command "yum-y install" it fails (Becouse there is no package). Also when i check the systemctl status command whether this service run or not there is nothing about yum-cron or something else. But there is yum-cron.conf file. Also our system is registered in redhat portal.

thanks in advance.

Hi,

I guess you don't have access to "rhel-7-server-optional-rpms" repository on your system.

What is the output of

yum repolist

If not listed (and I guess it won't), you can enable it with subscription-manager (assuming you are not using Satellite 5 and that your system is correctly registered with a valid subscription) :

subscription-manager repos --enable rhel-7-server-optional-rpms

Then you should be able to isntall your package:

yum install -y yum-cron

Jeremy

Thank you.
