fence_virtd does not start in RHEL7.1 - Trying to configure fencing for RHCS using RHEL6 KVM nodes

Latest response

Hi,

I'm trying to setup HA cluster using RHEL6 nodes in RHEL7.1 host.

Facing below issue while configuring fencing.

[root@localhost Desktop]# fence_virtd
Could not find backend "libvirt"

[root@localhost Desktop]# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.1 (Maipo)
[root@localhost Desktop]# uname -r
3.10.0-229.el7.x86_64

Can any of you help resolving this? Thanks... in advance

Do you have a link to the documentation you followed for your setup?

fence_virtd is included with fence-virtd-0.3.2-2.el7.x86_64

The following are RHEL 6 focused but hopefully can provide some direction to get you going. https://access.redhat.com/solutions/293183 https://access.redhat.com/solutions/55920

I have to admit that I found the setup of KVM-based Clustered Guests to be fairly challenging. Unfortunately it's been quite a while so I don't recall many of the caveats .

Thanks James for sharing links. It is resolved after installing fence-virtd-libvirt

Hi James,

I am doing test rhel7 ha add on two vms (rhel7) on rhel7 kvm host. Do we still follow same step to configure fence libvirt as in rhel6?

I didn't find resource/manual on rhel7 fence libvirt yet.

thanks
