Limited bandwidth, remote capsule discussions
Greetings,
We have a 7,000 node network that at some points only has half a T1 connection.
I've found a few articles and discussion on bandwidth throttling for pulp at:
http://pulp.readthedocs.org/en/latest/user-guide/scaling.html
http://pulp.readthedocs.org/en/latest/user-guide/content-sources.html
And some solutions on RH here:
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/1546093
I haven't found answers to:
- How to cancel a capsule synchronization if it is using all available bandwidth on a segment?
- How to use fastestmirror or deltarpms for content hosts if we have multiple capsules from which to choose?
- If the configuration changes to pulp in the RH solution goes on capsule or satellite?
- Yum bandwidth throttling, as it was a bit confusing what works and doesn't in RHN5 per discussion on this forum.
I would like to request a more thorough "RedHat Satellite Network Considerations" documentation or KB article that can show the steps and then testing steps to setup capsules in remote locations where bandwidth is limited. That's one of the key advantages of capsules, along with off-loading compute from the satellite, but there seems to be more documentation from the pulp community.
Thanks!

Bradley,
Thanks for raising this discussion.
To summarise your needs, you want to know how to:
1. Optimise Satellite's operations - repository synchronisation etc - to minimise bandwidth usage.
2. Cancel Satellite-Capsule synchronisation in a situation where all bandwidth is being used.
I don't have answers available right now, but have I understood your message correctly?
