how to figure out what repo to add?

Latest response

I need to install a lot of development i686 packages such as compat-libstdc++.i686 etc. I have added a lot of repos but yum still doesn't find
anything that is i686. How do I figure out what repo to add? Rehat workstation 6.7

Hi,

I tried "yum list compat-libstdc++*" on my RHEL 7 Workstation, and got the following result:

Available Packages
compat-libstdc++-33.i686 3.2.3-72.el7 rhel-7-workstation-optional-rpms
compat-libstdc++-33.x86_64 3.2.3-72.el7 rhel-7-workstation-optional-rpms

Normally, you should see the i686 packages:
Installed Packages
openssl-devel.x86_64 1:1.0.1e-42.el7_1.9 @rhel-7-workstation-rpms
Available Packages
openssl-devel.i686 1:1.0.1e-42.el7_1.9 rhel-7-workstation-rpms

That was not the case in 6.7. However I did find out that people can 1. download them from packages in the
downloads area of the web site and 2. mount the big 4 g iso and add it as a repo:
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/7227
I did the latter and then was finally able to install some required packages. However thanks for taking the time to respond.
I don't know why they were not more consistent about this.
