Failed booting after the latest karnel update

Dear membranes,

My RHEL 7.0 workstation failed to login after a recent kernel update. Since I am new to Linux I would like to get some help from this community to rectify the issue with latest kernel update. Though the previous kernel is working fine, I wish to figure out what went wrong with my recent update. In this regard I would like to clarify few of my queries.

  1. How will I find out what went wrong with my update?. The computer hang up after reading the hard-disk file system. A wild guess is that the Nvidia card driver may have some problem with new karnel update. How to identify the exact problem?

  2. How to remove the new kernel and latest updates so that the computer works as the one just before the updates?

  3. What all measurements I should keep in mind to avoid such issues with kernel updates in future?
