RHEV 3.5.1 Live Snapshot Deletion
Has anyone updated their environment to this level and got this working? This could be a game changer since it opens up the possibility of VM-level backups -- something we have in our VMware environment but could only hope for (for years...) in our RHEV environment. I'd love to hear experiences of any early adopters. We're still on RHEV 3.4 -- I'm a little gun-shy on the major version upgrades.
Thanks,
Daniel

Hey Siem, the live snapshot deletion feature is in RHEV 3.5 provided you have met the following requirements:
- RHEL 7.1 hypervisors
- Cluster compatibility level 3.5
- Data Center compatibility level 3.5
Note: It is possible to live migrate from RHEL 6 hypervisors to RHEL 7 hypervisors. This only works in 1 direction (RHEL 6 -> RHEL 7).
So, when you say it is possible to live migrate from RHEL 6 Hypervisors to RHEL 7, does that mean I could upgrade an existing RHEL 6 Hypervisor in place while running? Or, do you mean I can create a new RHEL 7 Hypervisor and migrate the VMs to it from the RHEL 6 Hypervisor?
Hey Bill, check out the kbase article 1390733 I linked above. It outlines the steps involved in live migrating from RHEL 6 hypervisors to RHEL 7. The tl;dr version is that you will create a brand new RHEL 7-based Cluster within the same Data Center and migrate that way. So, if you don't have any extra hardware for this migration, you will need to put at least one existing hypervisor into Maintenance mode and reinstall it with a fresh copy of a RHEL 7 hypervisor (either RHEV-H or full RHEL).
