Is Satellite 6 supported running on RHEL 7

Latest response

I setup a RHEL 7 server to install Satellite 6 on to migrate from our Satellite 5 server to. When I list repos I see only Beta for Satellite 6 on RHEL 7. I am wondering if it is only available in beta for RHEL 7 and when you plan to release for RHEL 7.

Hi Don,

The Satellite Documentation says that RHEL 7 is supported.

An ISO is available from the Downloads Section of the portal.

If you are having issues with your entitlements, you may need to speak to customer services, or open a support ticket

Very best regards,
Mark

Yes, it is supported. In addition, you get much better performance on RHEL7 due to the improved nature of the operating system components.

Satellite 6.0 is available for RHEL 7. Do you have access to https://access.redhat.com/downloads/content/250/ver=6.0/rhel---7/6.0/x86_64/product-downloads ?

Hi Don,

According to this Red Hat Documentation, Red Hat Satellite is supported to run on RHEL 6 or 7 (see important note on that page).

I have only used Red Hat Satellite 6 at the Red Hat Summit last year, and it was running on RHEL 7. I can't immediately recall what channels it had loaded, but one had to make a "view" to make the channels visible.

We are waiting for RHEL 7 to be approved in our environments before we go to satellite 6, so I hope the above helps. I've only used Satellite 6 at the Red Hat Summit, and can not recall what channels were available on the systems in the labs. But according to the documentation, Satellite 6 is supported to run on RHEL 7.

I think this discussion forum lacks mid-air collision detection. :)

I think you are correct Radek
