Logitech Performance MX mouse not working RHEL7 Desktop

Latest response

Title pretty much says it all. Logitech Performance MX is not working in RHEL 7 desktop. It works in a the 3.18 kernel but not the default. Attached is the output of lsusb and lspci. Please let me know if i need to provide anything else.

I had the identical issue. As a test (and only temporary) on centos7 (at home), I used a kernel from el-repo and it worked. So that mouse is not supported by the kernel. I since dropped that temporary el-repo kernel and then used a wired mouse. If you have a Red Hat subscription, certainly open a case with them, and create an sosreport.

Can I open a ticket with RHEL Desktop? I think it is only self support :(

hmmm sorry to hear that Travis...

You'd have to have something higher than self-support to open a case with Red Hat...

What's annoying is that mouse worked fine under RHEL 6.x on my home systems. I've since gone to a wired mouse because of this issue (even though I tested a unique kernel that made it work, see previous post) under centos7. I uninstalled that test kernel, and went back to the normal kernel and now use a wired mouse.

I figured the same issue was within RHEL7, and your situation has proved this true. I personally would not use an el-repo kernel (or any other kernel besides the ones from Red Hat) on a true RHEL system.

I noticed the Logitech website doesn't even bother to say they support Linux and even the Ubuntu folks are having issues with that mouse. Also see this link for additional background.

According to the device ID pair [046d:c52b] of your Logitech Unifying Receiver, it looks like you are affected by this known bug. There is a patch for the bug (upstream kernel 3.11, commit c63e0e370028d7e4033bd40165f18499872b5183). You might want to read this CentOS bug report for more details. CentOS offers a plus kernel that has the patch. Use of ELRepo's kernel-ml is one workaround as already pointed out. There is some other hint (selection of USB port) as well.

I suggest you file a bug report at http://bugzilla.redhat.com so that the RHEL kernel gets the fix. You do not need to have support for this.

Thanks for catching the bugzilla Akemi !
