Satellite Provisioning and Different Networks

Latest response

Hi all,

We are in the planning stages of a Satellite deployment and I'm looking for a little clarification on the provisioning process.

Our Sat server will not be able to live on the same network as the hosts that are provisioned from it (it will exist on a dedicated build network). In this case, a new host will need to be on the build network for the initial install but will have a different IP address post installation. How does this work in Satellite? Once the install is complete and the system is rebooted, will Satellite wait until the network staff has changed VLANs for the new host? Are there any gotchas to this approach?

Thanks in advance,
Gary

What version of Satellite are you looking to install?

We're going to be using Satellite 6.

Gary and Brian did you make any progress on this. We are looking at a similar approach.

We ended up not using a dedicated build network.
