How do I mount a USB flash drive as an ordinary (non-root) user?

The mount command can be issued only as the root user. In order for a normal user to be able to mount a USB flash drive, follow the steps below:

  1. Login as root and plug in the USB flash drive. The USB flash drive should be recognized by the system as soon as the drive is plugged in. You can execute the command:

    
     # fdisk -l
