Why are nodes not seeing each other in a clustered environment?

The two most common reasons for this is a misconfigured /etc/hosts file or a firewall is running.

Verify the /etc/hosts file

One common mistake is setting the nodes hostname to 127.0.0.1. For example, if there are two nodes, node1 and node2, the /etc/hosts file might look something like the following for the node1 system:

127.0.0.1    lo...
