I run startx and get a black screen. What do I do?

To get out of the black screen mode, try typing [Ctrl]-[Alt]-[Backspace].
This keystroke combination should cause the X server to exit, if possible. If that does not work, you may need to reboot the system. After the system has come up again, you should make certain that all your video hardware is compatible. Check the Hardware Compatibility List at
