How do I configure my Samba server as a wins server?

Log in to Your Red Hat Account

To configure a Samba server as a Wins server, then the following must be added to the /etc/smb.conf:

wins support = Yes

Adding this tag will tell the Samba server to act as a Wins server for the workgroup.

Note that this should NEVER be set to yes on more than one machine in the network.
