Why does cdrom/dvd device permission revert to the user who has logged in despite setting permission correctly in udev permission's file in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4?
Sometimes, devices permissions are explicitly set using udev, based on enviroment requirments. However, the permissions are reset via pam based in console.perms settings.
To set the permission of cdrom/dvd device to a particular user, please comment the line below from file /etc/security/console.perms as shown below:
