How can I input Korean, Japanese or Chinese characters in Gnome applications in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4?

Login to a Gnome session as the user who will be using the Korean, Japanese or Chinese keyboard layout.
As the root user, install the Korean, Japanese or Chinese language support packages and the input method switcher for the Gnome panel. Then start the input method server.
