What options should be used when mounting an exported NFS share over a slow or very busy network?

This has been tested for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4.

When mounting a remote exported NFS directory on a slow or busy network, modify some of the default parameters to take these conditions into consideration.

To mount the remote export on the busy server, use these options:

mount -t nfs -o timeo=600,retrans=2,vers=3, proto=...
