Can autofs automatically discover NFS shares ?

Yes. This functionality is available from a script in the /etc/auto.net key file. Essentially all that needs to be done on the clients is to uncomment the following line in the /etc/auto.master file:
/net /etc/auto.net
Ensure that autofs is running:
#/etc/init.d/autofs start
If already started, #/etc/in...Subscriber exclusive content
