Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager

Minimum:

  • Dual-core server with 4GB RAM, 25GB free disk space, and 1Gbps network interface

Recommended:

  • Dual-socket/quad-core server with 16GB RAM, 50GB free disk space on multiple disk spindles, and 1GB network interface. The breakdown of the server requirements is:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux® 6 operating system: 1GB RAM and 5GB local disk space
    • Manager: 3GB RAM, 3GB local disk space, and 1Gbps network controller bandwidth
    • Local ISO domain: 15GB disk space
  • A client to connect to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager with:
    • Microsoft Windows (7, XP, 2003 or 2008) with Internet Explorer 7 and above
    • Microsoft .NET Framework 4

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hosts

Minimum

  • Dual-core server, 10GB RAM, 10GB storage, and 1GB network interface

Recommended

  • Dual-socket server, 16GB RAM, 50GB storage, and two 1GB network interfaces. The breakdown of the server requirements is:
    • For each host: AMD-V-enabled or Intel VT-enabled, AMD64 or Intel 64 extensions, 512MB RAM, and 750MB storage
    • For VMs running on each host: 8GB RAM to run 4 VMs
  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor 6.2-3.0 installation ISO

Storage and Networking

  • At least 1 of the supported storage types (NFS, iSCSI, or FCP)
  • At least 3 static IP addresses: 1 for the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager server and 1 for each server running Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor
  • DNS service that can resolve (forward and reverse) all the IP addresses
  • An existing DHCP server that can allocate network addresses for the VMs
  • Display subnet (extra network interface card on both servers) to create a new display network in addition to the default existing management network

Virtual Machines

  • Installation images for creating VMs, depending on which operating system you want to use:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, 4, 5, or 6
    • Windows XP, 7, 2003, or 2008
  • Valid licenses or subscription entitlements for each operating system
  • At least 1 valid user account in the local directory, Red Hat Identity Management, or Active Directory
