Why is my system not using Hyperthreading?

Hyperthreading requires support in the processor, the BIOS, and the kernel. As of this writing (September 2007) Hyperthreading is not supported on any processors based on Intel's newer Core microarchitecture, which includes Pentium M, Core, Core 2, and Xeon 30xx, 32xx, 51xx, 53xx, 72xx, and 73xx series.
