How can I improve the performance of the syslog daemon in Red Hat Enterprise Linux?

Problem
The syslog daemon uses fsync() while writing messages to the log files. The fsync() call is used to ensure file integrity and synchronization after write operations. If the syslog daemon has to write a large amount of log entries, fsync() can degrade the write performance of syslog daemon.
