Red Hat JBoss Operations Network Supported Configurations

Updated -

Every JBoss® Operations Network (JBoss ON) release is tested and certified on a number of operating systems, Java™ Virtual Machines (JVMs), and database combinations. Red Hat provides both production and development support for supported configurations according to your subscription agreement in both physical and virtual environments.1

In order to be running in a supported configuration the JBoss ON server must be running in one of the following JVM versions and on one of the operating systems supported by that JVM; A JBoss ON Agent is fully supported when running in one of the following JVM versions but full functionality may be qualified based on the OS in question. More details are noted below.

Unless otherwise stated, deprecated means that support will be removed in a future release.

Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Support

Red Hat® relies on the testing and certification process of the JVM to determine operating system compatibility. The following JVM version families, combined with an operating system that supports that JVM, are considered fully supported in a virtual or real environment.

JBoss ON Agent and Server Native Library Support

JBoss ON includes native binaries that will run on a broad set of platforms, including platforms that Red Hat may not have the capability to fully support.

The JBoss ON agent includes native binaries that provide the following functionality and features not directly available in the JVM:

  • Platform management and monitoring of CPUs
  • Platform management and monitoring of File Systems
  • Platform management and monitoring of Network Adapters
  • Server management of configuration files for Apache Web Servers running on Linux
  • Server and service monitoring of Events
  • Capability to register and operate the JBoss ON agent as a Windows Service2

The following operating systems and architectures include full native support. Native libraries may be included for other operating systems and/or architectures not listed here. For those platforms, the JBoss ON agent is provided as-is with no guarantee of support unless run with the native library support disabled. Please note that doing so will remove certain features that require native library support.

Operating systems marked as deprecated only refer to native library or binary support. The operating system itself will continue to be supported with the appropriate JVM.

  1. Red Hat expects that customers will remain on a supported environment. In the event that a JVM, operating system, database, etc., or its version is no longer supported by its vendor, Red Hat may be limited in its ability to provide support and may require you to reproduce the issue in a supported environment for continued assistance. ↩︎
