How do I hide the network and hardware shares in KDE on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5?

By default, most shares in /etc/fstab/ will show up on user desktops in KDE.

While logged in as root, run the following to change each individual users config files:

# cd /home//.kde/share/config/
# vi kdesktoprc

Add the following:

[Media]
exclude=media/hdd_mounted,media/nfs_mounted,media/floppy5_unmounted,media/hdd_unmounte...
