Announcing the GA release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.5

Updated -

We are pleased to announce the GA release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.5. Keeping our commitment of stability and innovation and following the 6-month release cycle, we bring to you Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.5 that enables you to:

  • Innovate with additional Red Hat Enterprise Linux programming language support for .NET 6 and the latest, long-term release of Java™ (Open JDK 17), including additional application streams and enhanced Red Hat Enterprise Linux container tools that give developers the flexibility to build where and how they need and easily deploy on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, even at the network edge. Red Hat Enterprise Linux removes friction from the build and deploy processes by standardizing on a set of technologies that are well supported, maintained, more secure, performant, and ready for production deployment.

  • Transform with new enhancements to image builder and system roles to simplify and accelerate the transformation of workloads for cloud and edge computing, including new updates to Convert2RHEL, which now provides support for Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) to help organizations convert other Linux systems running on UEFI to migrate to Red Hat Enterprise Linux .

  • Optimize with Performance Co-Pilot and Grafana, web console, system roles, and Red Hat Insights services that provide guidance and expertise for configuring Red Hat Enterprise Linux and workloads running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux to achieve optimal performance, increase efficiency, and streamline management at scale.

  • Protect with Kernel Live Patching Management, Cryptographic Encryption for NTP protocol, additional OpenSCAP profiles, system roles, Red Hat Satellite, and new Red Hat Insights vulnerability and compliance services that help mitigate risk by identifying vulnerabilities and simplifying the enforcement of security configurations.
